Addictions
Services
The
Addictions Program is a 12-week psycho-educational program.
Participants learn weekly
about various types of substances, what addiction is, and methods
for achieving and maintaining sobriety. The participants learn the
importance of developing strong relapse prevention strategies,
including self-help groups such as AA or NA. Though the program is
largely educational in its format, processing allows the
participants to share ideas and feedback and to learn to apply the
concepts to their personal lives. There are some progress
demonstrations in this program.
Some individuals, because of their work
schedules, elect to complete the Addictions Program via individual
sessions. Individual sessions, scheduled at the client’s request,
cost twice what the group sessions cost, but they allow the
individual who is motivated to learn about the topics to complete
the program in a quicker fashion than the group format allows for.
Many of these participants complete the program in 6 sessions or so.

Substance Recovery Group Program -
AFTERCARE
When referred for Substance
Recovery Group or AFTERCARE, clients are initially scheduled for an
individual assessment/orientation. This assessment/orientation
allows the clinician to become acquainted with the client, the
client’s knowledge and progress regarding sobriety, and any issues
that may complicate the client’s progress. The clinician will make
recommendations regarding which program best suits the client at
that particular time (Addictions, Substance Recovery Group, or
AFTERCARE).
The
Substance Recovery Group
serves as Part II of the Addictions Program for those who require a
deeper focus and practice at sober living. The Substance Recovery
Group offers educational components but is largely a process-focused
group treatment that uses the Addictions topics and the
participant’s personal life experiences as a springboard for more
intensive therapeutic discussions.
Participants must have largely worked
through their denial of responsibility and be prepared to address
many personal issues surrounding their history of substance abuse.
There are some required progress demonstrations in this program.
Though successful completion of this program is based upon the
participant’s progress, most participants can expect to engage in
this program for approximately 3 months.
For individuals who require a more
specific or intensive addictions treatment, individual sessions
offer a one-on-one focus. These sessions may occur by themselves, or
they may supplement the Substance Recovery Group or AFTERCARE.
AFTERCARE
serves as a Part III of the Addictions program. Participants must be
willing to address many issues that affect their ability to maintain
substance abstinence.
AFTERCARE clients engage in sessions
that are 1 to 1 ½ hours in length. These sessions are
process-focused sessions that address the client’s personal issues,
struggles, and successes regarding abstinence. The client’s progress
regarding healthy/stable living is assessed at 90-day intervals,
with a referral for continuing sessions or completion of the program
to be made at those intervals. AFTERCARE sessions may range from 90
days to 180 days beyond the Substance Recovery Group sessions.
In summary, there is a seamless
progression of clinical services that spans the following:
-
90 days
(Addictions Program)
-
90 to 180 days
(Substance Recovery Group)
-
